Sharjah Institute of Technology opened in September 2003 under the instruction of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Institute offers UK based vocational qualifications.
SIT was under the patronage of SEWA from September 2003 until April 2009. Currently it is working under the umbrella of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI). Both SCCI and SIT are committed to developing human capabilities that support sustainable development in Sharjah and the UAE in general. SIT’s programs of study are specifically designed to provide the students with the knowledge and practical skills required to satisfy the needs of the UAE job market.
We, at SIT are committed to enhance the UAE’s development process by providing the public and private sectors with qualified and trained graduates. Students at SIT utilize the latest equipment, technology and learning strategies. Diplomas are internationally accredited through Edexcel (BTEC) and quality levels are set by the UK Qualifications Curriculum Authority (QCA). The UK education is highly respected throughout the world for rigorously applied standards of quality.
This SIT / BTEC learning model focuses on experiential methods, producing graduates who are technically and practically competent.
Students can go on to university after obtaining a BTEC National, this being a popular and successful route to university for many people although some prefer to continue with a BTEC Higher National qualification. Others choose to go straight into work when they’ve finished BTEC National – it gives them the right level of skills and knowledge to make a difference whatever field they have studied.
