The first Al Jazirah Institute of Science and Technology photography competition, “Abu Dhabi through the Lens” was held in May/June 2012.
Students were asked to submit black and white or colored photographs capturing the spirit and essence of Abu Dhabi. A very high standard of entries was received, with a variety of highly creative perspectives on both familiar icons and less photographed views of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
On 24th June, the Director of Al Jazirah Institute, Dr. Addel Al Ameri, and the Senior Manager of Academic Services, Mr. Philip Milton, presented the awards to the winning entries in the competition.
The top three winning photos selected by the panel of judges, taken by Kholood Ali Al Mashjari, Al Ghalya Abdul Qader Al Menhali and Monia Al Dhaouadi Zoghlami respectively, received cash prizes, and two further entries from Mona Eisa Al Khameeri and Noora Fadhel Al Yafeai were selected for Certificates of Merit.
All participants in the competition received Certificates of Participation for their efforts and in recognition of the quality of the entries.
We would like to congratulate all the participants for creating these photographs and sharing their views of Abu Dhabi.
